Building Spiritual Authority 1 Sam 3:19

"As Samuel grew up, the LORD was with him, and everything Samuel said was wise and helpful."

Samuel was recognized by all the people of Israel as a prophet, and his words went out to all the people. That recognition did not come from study or eloquence, it came from intimacy with God. Samuel was in position to hear from God, the LORD spoke to him, and others recognized it.

Spiritual authority is the most important credential for Christian leaders. It all begins with intimacy with God. Are we in a position to hear from him? Are we growing in our relationship with him? Do we know him better and better? Do we understand him more and more? If we are growing that way, people will recognize it, and ultimately that will be more important than any other credential we can display.

Lord Jesus, I embrace you and your purposes for me. I reject Satan and all his ways. Today I surrender myself to your instruction and leading. Please guide me and empower me, have your way with me, and may you be pleased with my attitudes and words and actions.
